This summer, Workday users can expect to see a host of both new and revised reference guides, for greater ease of navigation within the system.
You can find all Reference Guides and Quick Start Guides by clicking on the Workday Support life buoy icon on the Workday home page.
Quick Start Guides
In response to campus feedback requesting shorter guides, LMU recently released a series of Quick Start Guides (QSGs), which provide a high-level orientation for processes and tasks within Workday. These guides serve as a brief overview, with links to the full reference guides for users who require further details.
You can view the full list of quick start guides rolled out here.
New and Improved Reference Guides
Each reference guide has been reorganized and updated to provide a more comprehensive look at any given topic. Now, new and existing reference guides will include an introduction, best practices, relevant security roles, step-by-step instructions, where to find additional resources, tips and FAQs, and more.
Additionally, new content has been released on a series of topics, including:
- Finance Security Roles
- Return of Unused Cash Advances
- Find an Expense Report
- Overview of Travel & Expense Cards vs. Invoice Cards
- Personal Charges Using LMU Travel and Expense Card or Procurement/Invoice Card
- Finance Reports (LMU Budget vs Actuals – Detail and LMU Budget vs Actuals by Project)
You can view the full list of new and enhanced reference guides rolled out here. Reference guides will continue to be rolled out throughout the summer months, and users are encouraged to check back and review existing reference guides. You may learn something new, with additional tips and tricks!
Improved Manual Forms and Process Changes
Campus feedback has also helped to implement the following process changes, with more to be announced in fall 2024.
- Improved reclassification forms: users no longer have to look up spend and revenue reference IDs in Workday
- Repaying the university: users can now use an online payment portal to return funds to LMU
- Budget checks: the budget check process was removed as of April 2024.
