Dear Friends,
As our new academic year begins, I am delighted to share with you two new opportunities for prayer, reflection, and growth, available this fall through the Center for Ignatian Spirituality:
Challenge / Desafío
We invite you to take part in our new Challenge, beginning Sept. 7, 2025. A collaboration between Loyola Law School, Campus Ministry, and the Center for Ignatian Spirituality, it is designed for people who would like to grow in prayer but who are short on time.
This 36-week reflection program, rooted in the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius of Loyola, invites you to spend just 10 minutes a day reflecting on Scripture, stories, and guiding questions that lead into prayer.
The Challenge is:
- It is open to LMU/LLS faculty, staff, students, and alumni
- You can take part individually, with a partner, or in small groups
- Optional Zoom gatherings with Wayne Negrete, S.J., will provide community support
- Limited copies of the book are available in English and Spanish.

A Guided Retreat: Entering into Silence with St. Ignatius
From Sept. 26–28, 2025, we are offering a two-day guided silent retreat at Mater Dolorosa Retreat Center in Sierra Madre.
This new retreat offers LMU/LLS faculty and staff a short but deep experience of prayer, drawing from the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius, with:
- Guidance for prayer and periods of silent reflection
- Optional one-on-one conversations with a spiritual director
- Daily Mass
- Time for renewal and quiet
