The last day for student employees to work on campus during spring 2022 is May 7. The academic year work term ends on May 7, when all students must stop working. Students must submit their hours worked and student managers must approve the final timesheets before 5 p.m. on May 7, 2022.
Student Employment Services and Human Resources will manage the termination of all students’ academic year positions. However, managers of student employees must still note the following:
- Remind your students to submit their hours worked by 5 p.m. on May 7 to ensure they are paid in full;
- If you plan to hire students for summer 2022, you must rehire them for the summer work term, which runs from May 8 to Aug. 27. Summer hiring begins in Workday on May 1, 2022;
- You may now post your open positions in Workday’s student career site for summer 2022. For instructions on creating a job requisition and hiring students, please refer to the Hiring Students reference guide;
- The city of Los Angeles is raising the minimum wage to $16.04/hour, starting July 1, 2022. Please account for this change when budgeting for future student wages;
- Graduating students cannot work on campus past May 7. Only graduating students still enrolled in classes during the summer 2022 term can be hired as a student employee, for the portion of the summer work term during which they are enrolled.
Student Employment Services will be hosting workshops soon to answer your questions about the Workday year-end process and summer hiring. In the meantime, please contact SES at 310.338.7606 or ses@lmu.edu for support.
