The safety and well-being of LMU community members remain our top priority: this advisory is to inform community members of a recent incident.
Early this morning, flooding in McKay Hall caused water damage to several rooms on the 2nd and 3rd floors and Iggy’s Diner. The cause of the flooding is under investigation. All residents were immediately evacuated from the building, and those requiring alternate housing were transported to a hotel off campus, where the university will house them until they are cleared to move back into their assigned residence. Facilities Management is working with our contracted vendor, Belfour, and Environmental Health and Safety to assess the damage and has begun remediation work.
Iggy’s Diner reopened at 11:30 a.m. today.
LMU Housing, Dining, Parking and Transportation, Student Affairs, and Campus Safety continue to provide assistance to affected students, including support resources through the Community of Care and the Lion Emergency Fund. Student Housing has been providing specific information directly to McKay Hall residents.
