Join us for this two-day training designed to address faculty challenges and concerns in stewarding campus culture where everyone experiences a deep sense of belonging.
Develop skills and strategies to engage conflict in ways that deepen relationships and enhance collaboration.
Engage in practice to apply restorative practices to specific contexts through collaborative brainstorming, problem-solving, and exploration of relevant case studies.
Learn the philosophy that underlies restorative practices beyond a program of intervention: a deeply rooted way of being that foregrounds our interconnectedness and humanizes each of us and our lived experiences.
Description: This training will introduce participants to the theoretical underpinnings of building a restorative campus culture and climate and will address practical applications for the classroom and beyond regarding how to deal with conflict in ways that strengthen relationships and facilitate creative problem solving. The facilitation team from LMU’s Center for Urban Resilience (CURes) https://academics.lmu.edu/rj/ will be joined by Olajiwon McCadney, a nationally recognized restorative justice trainer with expertise in higher education in Catholic schools as well as program evaluation. He currently serves as the assistant vice president of Diversity Studies and Intercultural Affairs at HACC, Pennsylvania Community Colleges. This training is geared toward any faculty who strive to foster a culture of belonging, equity, and inclusivity, in all their spheres of influence, including programs, committees, classrooms, etc.”
This training is co-sponsored by the Provost’s Office.
Please note: There is a $500 per person cost to attend. We encourage you to connect with the associate dean for DEI in your college and/or the dean of your college to explore funding support options.
