LGBT Student Services, the DEI office, and other campus partners have collaborated to offer an LMU-tailored Safe Zones workshop on Nov. 9, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. This workshop is an opportunity to learn about LGBTQ+ identities, sexuality, and gender expression, and examine the prejudice, assumptions, and privilege around these identities.
If you would like to learn more about the following topics, register for LMU’s Safe Zones 1.0:
- Reflection on our own intersectional identities;
- Emerging language around gender and sexual identities;
- Creating safer spaces for queer-identifying people on campus;
- The various facets of gender-affirming care;
- Generational changes in the queer movement.
Participants at all levels of knowledge and experience are invited to join this introductory-style workshop. Whether you are new to these terms and ideas and want to learn the basics, a long-time ally who needs a refresher, or a member of the queer community who wants to build your network across the campus with your colleagues and students, this workshop will have a little something for everyone. Light refreshments from Portos will be provided. Register here by Nov. 8.
