Want to make an impact on the bluff? The 2023-24 resident advisor application for Student Housing is open on LEO. Applications are due on Friday, Jan. 13 at noon.
Claire Voilleque ’24, a theatre arts major, currently serves as an RA in Whelan Hall and says her favorite part about her work is the connections she makes. “Being an RA has genuinely taught me more about LMU and how to communicate with others than any class or prior leadership experience I’ve had,” said Voilleque. “My first-year was entirely online, so having the opportunity to help current first-year students have an amazing introduction to college life has helped me recover the time I lost and progress in my own personal development. Responsibility, dependability, and time management are the major qualities I’ve gained by being an RA here at LMU and I think those are some of the most common qualities employers look for in recent college graduates.”
For Drew Jenkins ’24, an economics major, his RA position in Del Rey North has helped build his communication skills. “My favorite part about being an RA has been the purposeful and intentional community building,” said Jenkins. “LMU has a lovely and diverse student body with a place for everyone of every background but finding your “tribe” can be challenging. As an out-of-state student, I have met all my best friends via class and hung out with them on campus. These experiences made me into the man I am today, and without the safety and convenience of on-campus housing, I don’t know who I’d be.”
