President Timothy Law Snyder, Ph.D., announces that earlier today, in support of our international students and in collaboration with the Presidents’ Alliance on Higher Education and Immigration, LMU joined an amicus brief that supports the lawsuit recently filed by Harvard and MIT, which seeks an injunction against the Department of Homeland Security’s and the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s new rules regarding international student visas and online schools. LMU opposes the government’s new policy and is working with our elected representatives and advocacy organizations to safeguard our international students’ futures.
We are devoted to our international students and are exploring academic and housing options to assure their safety, security, and academic success. On July 7, we released the following statement:
LMU stands in solidarity with our international students, who are essential members of our LMU family and integral to our culture, our economy, and our society. We are working around-the-clock to support them and safeguard their health, safety, and wellbeing. LMU is examining the new U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement policy, and will continue to pursue all available avenues to address their needs and advance their educational ambitions.
