LMU recently announced the appointment of Dr. Jacqueline Villafañe as the interim Ombuds for faculty and staff, effective October 2025 – May 2026.
Johnny Armijo, the university’s standing Ombuds, serves in the United States Air Force Reserve and was recently called up to active duty for a six-month deployment.

Dr. Villafañe brings over two decades of experience as a seasoned executive coach, organizational ombuds, and leadership development strategist. She specializes in individual conflict coaching and professional development, helping thousands in her career to surface concerns, explore different perspectives, and constructively address conflict. Her work has spanned the corporate, nonprofit, higher ed, health, and government sectors.
What Are Ombuds?
Ombuds are embedded third-party representatives who can provide neutral, confidential support for workplace or team concerns, offer conflict resolution coaching, and other services. Their impartial relationship to the university offers a “safe space” for faculty and staff to receive trusted counseling and support in mitigating workplace conflict.
