WILLIAM H. HANNON LIBRARY | The Common Book Committee invites you to nominate titles for LMU’s 2019 Common Book program.
Link to submission form: http://mylmu.co1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_40Xrabg1XBsn8VL
The selected book will be a part of the class of 2023’s first shared academic experience, as well as a platform for discussion throughout the entire LMU community. We are looking for suggestions that are readable, interdisciplinary and thought-provoking. Books may be either fiction or non-fiction. Previous selections have included A Tale of the Time Being by Ruth Ozeki, Silence by Shusaku Endo, Tattoos on the Heart by Gregory Boyle, and this year’s selection, Sacred Ground by Eboo Patel.
This year, we are especially interested in books that correlate strongly with LMU’s Core Curriculum. We welcome submissions for titles that ask readers to examine themselves as whole persons, integrated in thinking, feeling, and action and foster intellectual, creative/artistic, and moral development.
Please submit your nominations no later than Friday, March 15 at 5:00 p.m. http://mylmu.co1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_40Xrabg1XBsn8VL
We hope that you enjoyed reading the 2018 book, Sacred Ground by Eboo Patel. On behalf of the Common Book Committee, we want to thank everyone who integrated the text into their coursework, designed works of art based on their reading of the text, and developed programming around the ideas expressed in Patel’s work.
If you have any questions or comments about this survey or the Common Book program, contact John Jackson and Mia Watson at commonbook@lmu.edu. Thank you for your feedback!
