Campus Safety Services has partnered with Rave Guardian to develop a customized safety app for the LMU community. To ensure that students are always connected and protected with the Rave Guardian app, there are a few tips to be aware of. Campus Safety has noticed that if the app isn’t used for a while, the phone’s operating system might put it in a “snooze” mode to save battery. This could prevent important notifications from being received.
To keep the Rave Guardian app working perfectly, open the app regularly, perhaps once a month. This small action helps ensure the app stays active and ready to deliver critical alerts and information.
Campus Safety also strongly encourages students to enable “Critical Alerts” for the app. This feature allows emergency notifications to bypass your phone’s Do Not Disturb or silent mode, so you’ll hear them even if your phone is muted.
Rave Guardian is a powerful tool designed to keep students safe on and off campus. It offers features such as an anonymous tipping feature, and a safety timer that lets friends or campus security monitor your walk. By simply opening the app and making sure the notifications are set up correctly, you’re doing your part to contribute to a safer community for everyone.
If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to campus security or a trusted university administrator.
