A bold new message greets our community as we kick off a new academic year: Ignite a Brighter World marks a celebration of LMU’s values, legacy and impact. The comprehensive effort aims to elevate LMU’s academic reputation, increase visibility and awareness, and inspire ambassadorship — starting right here on our campuses.
The 2023-24 campaign starts internally with a series of engaging events and visuals that promote our pride points, top-tier rankings, and impact stories from our community. Stay tuned for more details on ways you can engage and help us Ignite a Brighter World. As the year continues, integrated campaigns will expand beyond the bluff, reaching new audiences in the largest marketing campaign in LMU’s history, in support of our students and strategic plan.
The campaign is rooted in extensive market research completed in 2017 and 2022, including surveys that collectively reached over 200,000 people across 11 unique audiences. This research study informed a collaborative process to create LMU’s overarching positioning statement, Creating the World We Want to Live In. The new Ignite a Brighter World campaign brings the optimistic, creative spirit of the original strategy to a new level, serving as a rallying cry for our community.
At the core of the campaign are 26 Ignite a Brighter World heroes. These are students, faculty, staff, and recent alumni who enliven our mission – a planetary physicist, an inclusive archivist, a sustainable storyteller, a first-gen advocate. They are researchers, artists, teachers, and community builders who know a brighter future is possible because they are making it happen, for our students, for our city, and for our planet. These heroes’ authentic stories populate campus banners and will come to life across various platforms all year.
Marketing, Communications, and External Relations’ Marketing and Brand Management team leads the project, with collaboration and support from many campus partners in Academic Affairs, Enrollment Management, University Advancement, Student Affairs, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, Mission and Ministry, and Athletics.
