HealthEquity, LMU’s benefits administrator for our HealthCare Flexible Spending Account (HCFSA), DependentCare Flexible Spending Account (DCFSA), commuter benefits, and COBRA service provider, experienced a data breach in March, and LMU was notified on July 1, 2024.
After due diligence on LMU’s part, less than two dozen members were affected. LMU sent an email to the affected participants on Aug. 5, 2024, followed by a letter in the mail on Aug. 6, 2024. The impacted members will also receive a letter directly from HealthEquity in the coming days that contains information on credit identity monitoring, insurance, and restoration services.
The compromised data may include Protected Health Information (PHI) such as name, address, birthdate, social security number, employer info, payment card account numbers, etc. However, not all identifiers for each affected member may have been compromised.
HealthEquity has assured all involved that they have taken immediate steps to remedy this incident. They are committed to ensuring the security of affected members’ information and preventing future breaches.
