The LMU community is invited to join in celebrating the Feast of St. Ignatius Loyola, founder of the Society of Jesus, on Sunday, July 31. Mass will take place at 10 a.m. in Sacred Heart Chapel. Lunch will follow in Sculpture Garden.
This year’s celebration is unique: it will conclude the Ignatian Year, which started in May 2021, on the 500th anniversary of Ignatius’ wounding by cannonball in the Battle of Pamplona.
St. Ignatius of Loyola was one of the most influential figures in the Catholic Church. He was the founder and leader of the Society of Jesus, also known as the Jesuits, and also wrote the Spiritual Exercises, a set of meditations and prayers that have guided millions of people, for which he was declared a patron saint of all spiritual retreats. He encouraged each of us to “find God in all things,” and act “for the greater glory of God.”
RSVP by Friday, July 27. If you have questions contact Eva Cruz-Aedo at Eva.Cruz-Aedo@lmu.edu or 310.338.3019.
