Mission and Ministry | LMU has much to celebrate this week. Tuesday, March 19 is the Solemnity of St. Joseph, Husband of Mary, one of the church’s highest-ranking feasts. On campus, we will celebrate with a Mass in Sacred Heart Chapel at noon followed by a luncheon hosted by President Timothy Law Snyder, Ph.D. in Sculpture Garden. The solemnity also happens to be the patronal feast day for the Sisters of St. Joseph of Orange, who will renew their religious vows of poverty, chastity and obedience at today’s Mass.
Just as St. Joseph was a compassionate and caring man, so too are the Sisters of St. Joseph of Orange for LMU. The C.S.J. sisters have contributed significantly to the university since their arrival in 1968 as professors, administrators, campus ministers, and in 2002, by the creation of the CSJ Center for Reconciliation and Justice at LMU with a $1 million gift.
March 19 also is LMU’s Day of Giving, 24 hours to show your Lion pride by giving a gift to support any area of campus that is meaningful to you. One LMU Drive is an opportunity to make a real impact on our students, campus and community.
On the day that celebrates One LMU Drive and St. Joseph, consider giving a gift to Mission and Ministry in honor of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Orange, whose charism is, fittingly, “that all may be one” (John 17:21).
