All Souls Day and Día de Los Muertos, Nov. 2
On Thursday, Nov. 2 at 12:05 p.m., all students, staff, faculty, and community members are invited to attend Mass at Sacred Heart Chapel, to honor the faithful departed. The Jesuit community also encourages all community members to submit the names of loved ones to be remembered in prayer at the Mass.
On Thursday evening, an interfaith candlelight vigil will be held at 7 p.m. in front of Sacred Heart Chapel. During the vigil, students will walk by candlelight, into the chapel, where an ofrenda, an altar for honoring the dead, will be erected on the Day of the Dead. Everyone will have the opportunity to place a picture or item of remembrance for those who have passed away on the altar. The ofrenda will remain in Sacred Heart Chapel throughout November.
Save the Date: Casassa Chair of Social Values Lecture
On Wednesday, Nov. 15 at 3 p.m., the Charles Casassa Chair of Social Values Lecture will be held in Hilton 100, with a reception to follow in the Jesuit Community. The keynote speaker will be Timothy Kesicki, SJ, past president of the Jesuit Conference of Canada and the U.S.
