Dear Colleagues:
I am pleased to announce that Nancy Pluzdrak, Ed.D., will be LMU’s next vice president for Human Resources. She will join us July 23.
VP Pluzdrak brings more than 30 years of senior leadership experience and a proven track record of leadership and directing HR operations to LMU. She joins us from the University of California Office of the President, where she serves as executive director of Human Resources.
At UCOP since 2016, VP Pluzdrak has been responsible for leading all HR resources, including: HR Business Partners, Employee Relations/Labor Relations, Learning and Organization Development and Metrics, Compensation, HRIS and Payroll, Talent Acquisition, Organization Development/Change Management, Workforce Planning/Project Management, and Leaves/Accommodations/Ergonomics. VP Pluzdrak is committed to operating within a shared-governance model, and has pursued policies and programs that support the needs of students, faculty, and staff. VP Pluzdrak successfully implemented a five-year workforce plan that focused on talent acquisition, knowledge sharing, employee retention, and talent and succession planning, ensuring that the right people are placed in the best roles to accomplish objectives.
Prior to joining UCOP, VP Pluzdrak was the executive vice president of international operations and global human resources for Daymon Worldwide, a $15B organization with over 16,000 employees worldwide. In this role, she was responsible for global HR operations, including Total Rewards (compensation, benefits), Knowledge Management, HR Business Partners (Domestic/Global), Daymon University, Learning and Development, and Communications, as well as International Operations in South Africa, Europe, and South America.
VP Pluzdrak earned her doctorate in education and MBA from Pepperdine University and her B.A. in management from the University of Phoenix. She holds a certificate from Harvard University’s Senior Executive Seminar for Retailers and Suppliers, and a Lominger certification for Human Resource professionals. In her personal time, she enjoys golfing, cycling, wine tasting, exploring new restaurants, and spending time with her family, friends, and dogs.
I thank Vice President for Human Resources Rebecca Chandler for her nearly two decades of leadership, care, and focus on supporting our faculty and staff to best serve our students.
Thanks to our search committee (listed below), led by John Parrish, chief of staff and vice president for institutional strategy, for conducting a thorough search process on an ambitious timeline. The committee’s professionalism and engagement provided me with valuable insights that aided my discernment process and led to this outstanding addition to our senior leadership team.
VP Pluzdrak has built her career on leadership development, community engagement, a commitment to research, and a dedication to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Please join me in congratulating and welcoming Nancy and her family to our LMU Lion family.
Sincerely,
Lynne Scarboro
