For 15 years, Jennifer Ramos, political science professor and international relations professor and director of Global Learning, has attended an Advent lunch hosted by the Center for Ignatian Spirituality. “I just love the sense of community where we enjoy music and share food around a table. It’s a great way to take time out of your day and be together,” said Ramos.
The 2023 Advent Lunches will take place Tuesday, Dec. 5, and Thursday, Dec. 7, from noon-1:15 p.m. location TBD. Advent is a season of joyful anticipation and the Center for Ignatian Spirituality invites all LMU faculty and staff to attend this beloved tradition. Seating is limited and by preregistration only.
“I feel the hecticness wash away during that time,” said Ramos. “I appreciate the atmosphere of calm and reflection.” Ramos was initially invited by a friend to go to the lunch when she first started working at LMU and has made it a holiday tradition to go back almost every year. “It’s a chance to be present for one another, and connect on a deeper level as we sit in wonder and grace during this blessed time.”
Matthew Bazar, director of technology planning and administration, has also attended the Christmas lunches for the past 13 years. It is one of his favorite ways to kick off the Christmas season. “I love meeting new people from across the university that I don’t already know and don’t get a chance to engage with through my work,” said Bazar.
