Benefits Open Enrollment is early this year! It begins at 8 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 20, 2025, and ends at 4 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 31, 2025, for benefit-eligible faculty and staff.
This is your once-a-year opportunity to choose the benefits that are right for you (and your family) for the coming year. After Open Enrollment ends, mid-year changes are only allowed if you experience a Qualifying Life Event (such as a change in marital status, birth of a child, etc.).
Medical Plans
- Paycheck contributions: There will be some increases to paycheck contributions for medical. Your costs will not change for dental, vision, and all other coverages. To find your cost, see the mybenefits Open Enrollment newsletter.
- Infertility treatment: To comply with California law, coverage for infertility care will be expanded for all medical plans.
- Anthem Blue Cross HealthSave Plan:
- Due to IRS guidelines, the in-network/out-of-network deductible for an individual will increase to $3,400.
- The in-network annual out-of-pocket maximum for an individual will increase to $3,450, due to Anthem’s policy requiring the maximum to exceed the deductible.
- Due to the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA), the annual deductible will no longer apply to telehealth and other remote care services.
Health Savings Account (HSA)
For the Anthem Blue Cross HealthSave Plan, the following will change to meet IRS guidelines:
- HSA annual maximum: Contribution maximums will increase to $4,400 for employee-only coverage and $8,750 for family coverage. This applies to the combined total for the amounts that you and LMU contribute.
- HSA catch-up contributions: The limit for individuals age 55 and older remains $1,000.
- OBBBA change: You’ll be able to pay for Direct Primary Care Service Arrangements from your HSA.
Health Care Flexible Spending Account (FSA)
- Annual maximum: The contribution maximum will increase to $3,300.
- Rollover amount: The amount of unused funds that you can transfer from 2025 to 2026 will increase to $660. However, you must re-enroll in a Health Care FSA for 2026 to access the funds.
Commuter Benefits
- Mass transit/van pooling expenses account: The maximum will increase to $325 per month for a transit order and $650 per month for a commuter order.
- Parking expenses account: The maximum will increase to $325 per month.
