Human Resources is pleased to bring you the 2024-25 staff performance review cycle in Workday. The review cycle kicks off Monday, April 28, and runs through Friday, July 11.
The first step in the process is the required staff self-evaluation, which should be completed no later than Friday, May 30. This is a great opportunity to reflect on the past year’s performance, engage in discussion, and plan for the next year.
PERFORMANCE REVIEW SCHEDULE

PERFORMANCE REVIEW GUIDELINES

IMPORTANT HIGHLIGHTS
- Self-Evaluations: This year, self-evaluations are mandatory. Staff members should complete the Self-Evaluation task in Workday by Friday, May 30. Your manager may have established an earlier deadline to ensure that all performance reviews are completed by the university’s deadline of July 11.
- HR Compliance Training: HR compliance training is required by all staff and must be completed to be eligible for an annual merit increase.
- Behavioral Expectations: Staff will be evaluated based on their adherence to LMU’s Behavioral Expectations in the Workplace policy.
- Performance Ratings: Overall performance ratings will be directly linked to annual merit increases.
- Staff members are responsible for acknowledging receipt of the performance review in Workday.
- Performance reviews are stored electronically and do not need to be printed or sent to HR.
FOR MANAGERS
- Managers are responsible for completing performance reviews and meeting with staff members by Friday, July 11.
- To assist in completing performance reviews, please utilize the Workday support app after logging into Workday. Refer to the 2024-25 Manager Performance Review Guidelines in Box.
- Managers must verify that their direct reports complete mandatory HR compliance training; staff who do not complete the training will be ineligible for an annual merit award
- If you need to place a staff member on a Performance Improvement Plan (PIP), please contact your HR representative immediately for guidance on the next steps.

TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES
Training is available for both managers and non-managers. We highly recommend attending these sessions to familiarize yourself with the Workday layout, learn about new features, and ask questions about conducting performance reviews. The training sessions available are from May 1 to June 11. To register, log into Workday, select the Learning app, and from the Learning home page, click “Discover.” Just below Explore the Learning Catalog, click “Browse Learning,” then type “performance reviews” in the search bar.
PERFORMANCE IMPROVEMENT PLAN
If your manager places you on a Performance Improvement Plan (PIP), it is intended to help you succeed by clearly identifying areas for improvement and outlining the steps you need to take to achieve that success. If you have questions about expectations, discuss with your supervisor right away. Please be aware that staff members on a PIP are not eligible for an annual merit increase, which usually indicates that performance expectations are not being met.
