The third in a series of three SOE Student Forums was held on Thursday, June 25 and was facilitated by Dr. William Parham, Dr. Terese Aceves and Dr. Emily Fisher.
Born of student action, the forums were held online and offered all SOE students the opportunity to explore their feelings about the broadcast murder of George Floyd and the subsequent rise of the Black Lives Matter protests countrywide.
Following her decision to speak out, student Lauren Black, a graduate student in the School Psychology Program, worked with her professors in the Department of Specialized Programs in Professional Psychology on the idea of facilitated forums for all students at the School of Education.
Themes discussed during the third student forum included: the need to invest in self-care and staying engaged in the work for the long haul. Students discussed wanting to see greater diversity of thought represented in course and program material at LMU School of Education.
