The Center for Global Understanding (CFGU) and Loyola Marymount University announce the first of several joint research projects.
Utilizing the extensive research and academic skills at Loyola Marymount these two initial research projects will first, identify the number of Muslim American students and Muslim student organizations at both public and private colleges and universities in the United States. And second, develop an experts and scholars database of Muslim scholars in the United States. This research will be overseen by Dr. Amir Hussain professor of theological studies at Loyola Marymount.
CFGU and Loyola Marymount will both utilize the findings to advance programs and research aimed at developing projects for Muslim American students and connecting Muslim and Islamic scholars to a variety of audiences.
CFGU is a national non-profit, non-advocacy resource based organization, which seeks to develop a better understanding among people of various faiths and cultural backgrounds with an emphasis on Islam and Muslims. One of the main programs is an American Muslim Students’ outreach program on civic engagement.
Amir Hussain is an Associate Professor of Theological Studies. BSC. University of Toronto, 1987 M.A. University of Toronto, 1990; Ph.D. University of Toronto, 2001. Dr. Hussain teaches and publishes about Islam and Muslim lives. His research focuses on Muslim communities in North America. He also teaches about comparative religion and interfaith dialogue.
