Immigrants' Children Seek American Dream

In growing numbers, highly educated children of immigrants to the United States are uprooting themselves and moving to their ancestral countries. Edward J.W. Park, director of the Asian Pacific American Studies Program at Loyola Marymount University, said this migration was spurred by the efforts of some overseas governments to attract more foreign talent by offering employment, investment, tax and visa incentives.

Nearly 60 percent of members of religious congregations in the Inland area are Catholic, compared with 39 percent nationwide. Jeffrey Siker, a professor of theological studies at Loyola Marymount University, said there's no doubt why. "One word: Latinos," he said. The Inland area is nearly half Latino.
