Loyola Marymount University’s Jewish Studies Program and the American Jewish Committee of Los Angeles will present Out of the Wilderness: A Forty Year Reflection on Catholic-Jewish Relations on May 4 at LMU.
The presentation will feature a conversation with Father Patrick Desbois, president of Yahad-in Unum and a leading member of the Bishop’s Episcopal Committee for Relations with Judaism in France; and Rabbi David Rosen, international director of interreligious affairs at the American Jewish Committee, based in Jerusalem. Holli Levitsky, director of Jewish Studies at LMU, will moderate.
Rabbi Rosen is a leading voice in interfaith dialogue. He is a founder or board member of numerous interfaith groups, and has served as senior rabbi of the largest Jewish congregation in South Africa and as chief rabbi of Ireland.
Father Desbois is known worldwide for his research into the murder of Jews during the Holocaust. For the last decade, he has led a team of researchers who have located hundreds of previously unidentified mass graves in the Ukraine. He is the author of Holocaust by Bullets: A Priest’s Journey to Uncover the Truth Behind the Murder of 1.5 Million Jews.
