1992 Nobel Peace Prize winner Rigoberta Menchú Tum of Guatemala came to Loyola Marymount Nov. 19-20 to speak with students participating in the Conference on Peace hosted by Chicano Latino Student Services and Soledad Enrichment Action, a local education nonprofit.
Menchú led students from LMU and several local high schools in workshops and presentations on how they can make a difference in their communities and by supporting global causes.
Menchú, an activist for indigenous people in Guatemala, was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1992. She last visited LMU in 2008, as part of the PeaceJam Global Call to Action event, which brought seven Nobel laureates to campus.
