Loyola Marymount University moved up to No. 3 in the “Best Regional Universities (West)” category of the 2011 edition of U.S. News & World Report’s “Best Colleges.”
LMU moved up one spot from the 2010 rankings, in which the category was previously called “Best Universities with Master’s Programs in the West.” LMU also placed fourth in this year’s ranking of best Western Regional Universities for “Strong Commitment to Undergraduate Teaching.”
“We are a school that places a high value on small class size and individualized attention which shows our commitment to teaching,” said Interim President David W. Burcham. “It is rewarding to see our strengths recognized in the U.S. News survey. This ranking reflects what we here at LMU already know: that academic excellence is our top priority.”
LMU has been named a top university on numerous other rankings. The Princeton Review listed LMU in its 2011 edition of “The 373 Best Colleges.” Last week, a report by The Education Trust ranked LMU as one of 11 colleges nationwide with the best graduation rates for Hispanic and African-American students.
